Our History

A Mighty Oak B&B was conceived in 2009 when Lisa inherited land in the heart of Pilot Mountain, NC which had been in her family since The Great Depression.

At the time, portions of the land were farmed for tobacco. Relics such as a Pole Barn and several Tobacco Barns can be seen on the property honoring the land’s history; however the entire landscape and purpose have since changed.

Upon purchasing the land, Todd and Lisa worked together with family and the expertise of Lisa’s cousin, Sam Harding, to build A Mighty Oak Bed and Breakfast from the ground up. The land once used for tobacco was left to recuperate for a few years to rejuvenate the soil before Intended Way Farms was founded. Originally as a way to feed their family, Intended Way Farms grew into the delicious pasture-raised meats and eggs served in A Mighty Oak and sold in the farm store.

Today, A Mighty Oak has blossomed into the vision Todd and Lisa had from the very beginning, namely, to provide peaceful lodging and a delicious breakfast of pasture-raised meats and beyond organic seasonal fruits and vegetables to their guests.

Whether you’re enjoying the rich heritage and historic surroundings of Pilot Mountain and Mount Airy or savoring a delicious farm-to-table breakfast after a refreshing night’s sleep, your experience will be both serene and scrumptious.

Testimonials

The B&B is so beautifully done with more than enough room to enjoy. The rooms are so comfortable with great bed linens. But the real joy was sitting on the balcony in the rocking chairs just enjoying the scenery and the moment.

We really appreciate their commitment of farm to table and the “intended way”. We plan to return and have already recommended it to friends.

What a wonderful experience. Todd and Lisa are amazing people. Their home sits on acres of ground. I would go back again in a heartbeat.
